Décembre 1865-août 1950.
Black Elk était un chaman de la tribu Oglala Lakota (Sioux). Il a eu dans son tout jeune âge des visions dans lesquelles ils apprenaient le moyen de soulager les autres. Il était clairvoyant. On lui doit la transmission écrite d'un bon nombre de rituels amérindiens qui auraient, sans lui, été perdus.
